I have dirty blonde hair currently. When I let it dry naturally, it get's all kinky and wavey. It's about to right below my b00bs, and it's thick. I'm a BIG fan of the indie/hipster look when it comes to clothes, but I love the scene look when it comes to hair. I leave it natural a lot, but if I were to straighten it and get thick side bangs and then straighten it, would I get that scene look? Also. I've been thinking about going from my natural dirty blonde to more of a light platinum blonde, but I don't want it to look overly unnatural with horrible roots. If I dyed my hair this color, would my roots be really horrible? Again, I have dirty blonde hair. Okay, last question, I promise. It's a makeup question. You know how some people do their eye makeup to make their eyes pop A LOT? How?! Haha. Thank you! I'm a big fan of your blog, by the way. :)
Hi Halie! Sorry it’s been so long, I took a small break from the site. I hope I can help :)
Your hair is exactly like mine: dirty blonde, thick, with kinky waves! Being that I followed the scene trends for a few years, I can answer confidently that yes, you will get a scene style with side bangs and it straight. You might want to consider short layers. Not inch long ones, but some that are a few inches above your length and blend down to your length.
Again, we are similar! I just colored my hair two colors lighter, so it’s more of a light blonde. I’ve been this color in the past also, so I speak from experience: no, the roots won’t look horrible, but yes, you will be able to tell. The first inch of your natural blonde that grows out will seem very dark brown in comparison, but here’s something you can do without bleaching that all the time. Find a hair color that’s the same color as the light blonde you are, and go over only your roots. Your natural color will lighten to the light blonde color! (Again, this is from experience, and also what I’ve been taught in school.) If you’d like me to go into more scientific detail on that, I’ll message you privately :)
Making your eye color pop depends on your eye color! I’ll list the colors that accent eyes the best:
- Blue eyes: use browns (all ranges), light pinks, peaches, navy blue (no bright blue!)
- Green eyes: pinks, reds, purples, dark greens
- Brown eyes: blues, teals, greens, purples, grays, some deep pinks
- Hazel eyes: make them more green with dark greens, make them more brown with dark purples
You’re very welcome, and I’m glad you like my blog :)
